How To Unplug With Your Shokz Headphones

National Day of Unplugging falls on March 4-5th this year, starting at sundown on Friday and lasting until sundown Saturday. The goal of National Day of Unplugging is to take a break from notifications, social media, screentime, and constantly having to be “on” in the digital age by powering down electronic devices during these 24 hours. While 24 uninterrupted hours of no phone, laptop, or TV may seem daunting at first, you’ll be rewarded with relaxation, more restful sleep, and the feeling of a goal accomplished. Grab your OpenSwim for device-free listening, or your OpenRun Pro (and put your phone on Do Not Disturb!) and try out a few of these activities you can do to fill up your downtime.

Go On A Hike

Use this time to check out some hiking or nature trails in your area! Grab your pup and some friends, leave your phone behind, and remind yourself of how beautiful life can be when it’s not lived behind a screen.

Trash Pickup

Go one step further by cleaning up, beautifying, and giving back to your community. Grab a trash bag or two, hit up a park or other high-traffic area, and spend a couple hours picking up any litter you might see. Try it with friends or the whole family and reward your hard work with a well-earned meal afterwards.

Paint

…or draw, or sketch! Grab a canvas or a piece of paper, some paints, pencils, or markers, throw on your favorite music, and watch the magic happen. You don’t have to be talented to enjoy creatively expressing yourself, and you may even pick up a new hobby.

Journal

If art isn’t really your thing, try writing instead! Get relaxed, throw on some lo-fi tunes, and let the words flow. Having writers block? Check out these journaling prompts for some inspo.

Declutter Your Home

What better time to get a head start on some spring cleaning? Go through your old clothes, books, and junk drawers. Make a list of what you want to keep and what you want to donate, and don’t forget to give everything a good scrub!

Cook A Meal

Dig out those old cookbooks or recipe cards and take a trip to the grocery store to stock up on the essentials. A whole day with no screens means it’s the perfect time to master a new, complicated dish you’ve been wanting to try.

Read or Listen To An Audiobook

When trying to reduce screentime, picking up a book instead of a phone is a no-brainer. However, for those who may find it hard to concentrate on a physical book, you can download or stream an audiobook instead! Sit back, close your eyes, and lose yourself inside another world.
